Munted Mates

Following on from our successful “Post Quake Debrief”, Mensline and Canterbury Mens Centre are offering a fortnightly group on working through the quagmire of quake recovery.

Want to learn from others what they are doing about insurance payouts? Who people are using for repairs? What should you be doing to make the most of the situation? And mostly, how to keep sane while the process is going on?

Come and share your experiences, pool knowledge and let’s all help each other figure out how best to move forward through these “interesting times”!

Every second Thursday (next meetings are on 25 August, 8 September and 22 September) at 7:30 pm at St Faiths Church Hall, New Brighton (46 Hawke st, by the Shaw ave roundabout).  Gold coin, please, but you’ll get free biscuits, tea and coffee!

Special Post-Quake Debrief!

We are having a special one-off meeting to give men the chance to debrief about how the quake has been for them.

What do you want to talk about? What do you want more information about?

  • Is your wife driving you crazy with her post-quake anxiety?
  • Are you up in the air with EQC, Civil Defense, or your employer?
  • Weighing up whether to sign “the pledge” or head out for Brisbane?
  • Suffering from a wee bit more “quake brain” than you think you’d like?

Come for a chat, share ideas on how to move forward; pool information about what is happening; get out of the house for a night!

We’ll supply the bickies, tea and coffee!

Where: St Faith’s Church Hall (46 Hawke st, by the corner of Shaw ave, New Brighton).

When: **ONE TIME ONLY** Thursday, 7 April 2011 at 7:30 pm.
(If there is interest and a suitable place available, we might have a meet up in a pub or cafe ahead of time. Email us if you are keen.)

Why: Because anyone who has been through all this and has NOT debriefed doesn’t know how much we are ALL going through the SAME thing! Others might have valuable tips. OR YOU might have valuable tips for others! Share your knowledge and help others in your community!

Cost: Free! (But we won’t say no to a gold coin if you have one to spare!)

Who: You! If you’ve lived through 22/2/11 or through 4/9/10, or were affected by the 26/12/10, or had to put up with any of the changes to life that those quakes have brought to us all here in Christchurch.

And then what?: If there is sufficient interest, we may have another meeting or three. Let us know if you are keen but are not able to make it on the night.

Mid Summer Men’s Gathering!

The men MSMG is a mens weekend that was to be held in Governor’s Bay.

Because of the quake, it has had to be postponed, but was rescheduled for the weekend of 19 August. 14 men attended, and all agreed that it was a very successful group.
